Frequently Asked Questions Back to Index page

Will I have to sign a year long contract?

You will have to sign a rental contract; however the length of the contract will be determined and negotiated by Casitas with the owner of the property.
Will it be a problem for the non Spanish speakers moving into this area?

Oh no, there are many English speaking doctors, dentists, lawyers, architects etc within the area. At Casitas we are Spanish English speakers who will help with any translation issues and concerns. To help you on your way some of the town halls are providing free Spanish Lessons to the foreign community.

Do I have to pay the utility bills?

It is a condition of most rental contracts that you are expected to pay the water and electricity bills which are bi monthly. If you have a longer contract then you may have to pay the local rates.

Can I bring my pet to Spain?

You will need various health and vaccination certificates to bring your pet into Spain and a certificate from your agriculture ministry; it’s not as complicated as you may think, now that the UK has introduced the pet passport scheme. Contact your local vet who will be up to date with all current procedures. Not all properties are suitable for pets, so please check with our office for a list of available rentals where pets are accepted.

What if we need to break our rental contract?

Its not an ideal situation for any party should you need to break your rental contract, however it is possible and the penalty for this normally being you loose your deposit. Do check with us at the time of signing your contract.
Will my rented accommodation be furnished?

Normally most of our properties are furnished and include fully fitted kitchens, sofas, beds, tables and chairs etc.

If the house is already furnished can Casitas help up to find storage for our furniture?

Although we don’t have our own storage facilities we can assist you with storage, we believe it is more economical in Spain than in the UK.

What about deposits?

Two months deposit is typically required to reserve your property bit this can vary, do check at the point of enquiry what exactly will be required.
Do you only have inland properties in the Jalon Valley?

Our main rental office is located in Jalon itself, so the majority of our properties are within this area, however we also have other offices on the Costa Blanca and the Costa Calida, meaning that coastal properties can also be available.

And returning the deposit?

At the end of your contract and only after an inspection has been made and any outstanding bills have been received and paid and all of the terms and conditions of your contract have been met will your deposit be refunded.

How soon can I move in?

Once you have found the rental property right for you, the deposits have been paid and contracts signed, its normal that you can have your keys in just a few more days. Generally speaking the rental process in Spain is much simpler and straight forward than renting in the UK.

Do I have to pay any agency fees to you?

No, unlike some other agents we don’t charge tenants any fees. To move into a property you just pay the first rental amount plus agreed deposit.
